Every 2027 Expedition runs a 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 through a 10-speed automatic, in two strengths: 400 horsepower with 480 lb-ft as the standard tune, and a 440-horsepower, 510-lb-ft High-Output version that comes standard on the Tremor and available on the Platinum. Both figures are premium-fuel ratings, though regular unleaded is the recommended everyday diet.

Rear-wheel drive or Intelligent 4WD is the next choice, and for 2027 the 4×2 option extends to the Platinum and King Ranch. EPA estimates land at 16 city/23 highway MPG with rear-wheel drive and 15/22 with four-wheel drive, and the Terrain Management System’s six drive modes cover everything an Idaho winter sends down I-84.

The fine print matters here: 9,600 pounds of maximum towing belongs to the standard-length 4×4 with the available Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package. The Tremor rates 9,300 pounds, the long MAX body 9,000 with the same package, and models without it tow 6,000 to 6,300 pounds. An integrated trailer brake controller, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, and Pro Trailer Backup Assist are standard across the board.

That is boat-to-Cascade capability with the family aboard. The Tremor covers the forest-service side of the state: 33-inch all-terrain tires, 10.6 inches of ground clearance, an electronic-locking rear differential, skid plates, and a Rock Crawl drive mode.

BlueCruise hands-free highway driving is optional on the Active, equipped on the Tremor and Platinum, and included with a service plan on the King Ranch, covering the long straight interstate miles between here and anywhere. Audio ranges from six speakers to a 22-speaker B&O Unleashed system.

The standard truck runs 209.9 inches long on a 122.5-inch wheelbase; the MAX adds nearly a foot of length and swaps the 23.6-gallon tank for a 27.8-gallon unit.
