2027 Ford Explorer for sale near Boise, ID

An Idaho three-row has to be several vehicles at once: school runs in town, I-84 miles to Boise, forest roads in the summer and a trailer behind it more weekends than not. The 2027 Ford Explorer is set up for exactly that, with EcoBoost engines in every trim, available Intelligent 4WD, and Class III tow hardware built in from the factory.

Mountain Home Auto Ranch Ford covers the 2027 lineup section by section below, including what changed this year.

2027 Ford Explorer Performance Features

V

Every 2027 Explorer runs an EcoBoost engine through a 10-speed automatic. Active, ST-Line, Tremor and Platinum come with the 2.3-liter turbo four making 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft, while the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 and its 415 lb-ft is standard on the ST, available on Tremor, and orderable on Platinum for the first time this year.

That torque figure is the one that matters on a grade out of the Snake River plain with a trailer attached. Ford quotes the V6 at up to 400 horsepower, with a 385-horsepower rating in California-emissions states. Intelligent 4WD is available on four trims and standard on Tremor, and six drive modes cover everything from Tow/Haul to Slippery.

  • 2.3L EcoBoost: 300 hp, 310 lb-ft
  • 3.0L EcoBoost V6: up to 400 hp, 415 lb-ft
  • V6 available on Platinum starting in 2027
  • 10-speed automatic on every build
  • Intelligent 4WD available; standard on Tremor
  • Six drive modes including Tow/Haul and Slippery

The Explorer stretches 198.7 inches on a 119.1-inch wheelbase, big enough for three rows of seats and still manageable on a mountain two-lane. Tremor is the trim built for rougher going, pairing its off-road hardware with standard four-wheel drive.

Avalanche Gray and Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat join the palette for 2027. The ST can be ordered with the new Sinister Package and its amber accent lights, and Slick Roof Conversion is available if you would rather run without roof rails.

  • 198.7 inches long on a 119.1-inch wheelbase
  • Two new colors for 2027
  • Tremor: off-road hardware, standard 4WD
  • ST Sinister Package: exclusive wheels, amber accents
  • Slick Roof Conversion available
  • Panoramic Vista Roof available on all models

2027 Ford Explorer Safety Features

V

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard on all five trims, which means automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot information with cross-traffic alert, a lane-keeping system and a rear view camera on the least expensive Explorer you can order. Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go comes with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, standard on the Explorer, and a 360-degree camera arrives further up the range.

As for crash ratings, the IIHS awarded the 2026 Explorer a Top Safety Pick and NHTSA rated the 2025 Explorer five stars overall. Neither organization has published a 2027 result, so those are the latest available rather than ratings for this model year.

  • Ford Co-Pilot360 standard on every trim
  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Blind spot information with cross-traffic alert
  • Lane-keeping system and rear view camera
  • 2026 Explorer: IIHS Top Safety Pick

BlueCruise hands-free highway driving is equipped on Platinum and ST with a complimentary plan, and available further down the lineup. It works on prequalified divided highways and still requires your attention on the road. For 2027 the Ford Security Package is included for the first year of ownership.

  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Captain’s chairs are standard in the second row for 2027, so the Explorer is a six-seater unless you add the available bench and make it seven. Tremor is six-passenger only. With the second and third rows folded there is up to 85.8 cubic feet of space, which swallows camping gear for a long weekend at Anderson Ranch.

The cabin steps up as you climb the range, from Active’s durable cloth through ST-Line’s sport trim to Platinum’s available quilted leather. The panoramic Vista Roof with its power shade is on the options list for every model this year.

  • Captain’s chairs standard; bench available
  • Six seats standard, seven with the bench
  • Tremor is six-passenger only
  • Up to 85.8 cu ft of cargo space
  • Available quilted leather on Platinum
